Dr. Ferson is board-certified in thoracic surgery (cardiothoracic vascular surgery). He completed an undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University. He then received a medical degree at the

University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and completed a residency at UPMC. Dr. Ferson is a member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, and the General Thoracic Surgery Club. Dr. Ferson is also a surgeon at the Pittsburgh Veterans Administration Hospital.
