CME Credit Requirements and Deadlines by State

There are a number of reasons why physicians need continuing medical education (CME), including to renew their state medical license. Often physicians receive credit for attending conferences, grand rounds, and similar events, but online CME is also a great resource. UPMC Physician Resources offers free online CME in addition to other news, information, and educational opportunities for physicians.

Below you will find a summary of CME deadlines for physicians, by state. See when you need to have completed your hours and how many are needed. Then, visit our extensive library of free online CME in adult and pediatric subspecialties. It is always best to confirm this information with your state medical board, or other licensing or boarding entity, since requirements are frequently updated.
