UPMC Expanding Thoracic Services Through Evaluation Clinics Across the Region

January 3, 2024

The UPMC Division of Thoracic Surgery is pleased to announce the expansion of thoracic services to patients across the region through thoracic evaluation clinics.

As one of the first medical centers in the country to perform minimally invasive surgery for esophageal and lung cancers, UPMC is a national leader in treating thoracic conditions. UPMC thoracic surgeons have extensive experience with complex thoracic diseases and offer the most innovative, cutting-edge approaches to diagnosis and treatment.

Through these clinics, thoracic surgery expertise is available to more patients in communities across the UPMC footprint.

“The Division of Thoracic Surgery at UPMC is committed to serving patients across the region by expanding access to thoracic services” says Ryan Levy, MD, Division Chief, Division of Thoracic Surgery, UPMC Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. “These clinics enable us to improve access to care for patients outside of Pittsburgh.”

Our team will be providing specialized care to treat diseases of the lungs, chest wall, esophagus, and mediastinum. Treatment and consultation services will be available at the clinics through both in-person and telemedicine visits. For patients requiring surgery, the thoracic surgery team will coordinate to provide surgical care at one of our Pittsburgh facilities.

The UPMC Division of Thoracic Surgery looks forward to providing unique and comprehensive care for those who require thoracic services at clinics across the region.
