Sultan Mahmood, MD, specializes in gastroenterology and is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is affiliated with UPMC Passavant, UPMC St. Margaret, UPMC Mercy, UPMC Presbyterian, and UPMC Shadyside. Dr. Mahmood completed his fellowships at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center - Harvard University and Oklahoma University College of Medicine, residency at Oklahoma University College of Medicine, and medical degree at King Edward Medical University. Dr. Mahmood’s clinical interests include third space endoscopy (including POEM, G-POEM, and ESD), Endoscopic Ultrasound, ERCP, large polyp EMR, and Endoscopic stricture management. His research interests include medical education and third-space endoscopy. He has multiple publications focusing on improving quality metrics for endoscopy and colonoscopy, medical education, and third-space endoscopy. He is married and has 3 children. Outside of work, he enjoys playing tennis, pickleball, and hiking.
