The New UPMC Children’s Heart Institute

The new home of the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Heart Institute was unveiled on June 4, 2026. The 50,000-square-foot, three-story addition to the hospital’s Lawrenceville campus offers an exceptional family-centered environment. It was designed to deliver a high-quality care experience for pediatric and select adult cardiac patients who travel from near and far.

The UPMC Children’s Heart Institute is a premier destination for advanced cardiac care. The facility – which houses UPMC Children's nationally recognized pediatric cardiology program – features:

  • Three state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs, including one directly connected to a cardiac MRI suite.
  • Nine private pre- and post-procedure rooms.
  • An expanded cardiac clinic suite with 14 exam rooms, eight echocardiogram (ECHO) labs, a cardiac exercise lab, and dedicated space for a new pediatric cardiac rehabilitation program.
  • Modern waiting and registration areas.
  • A conference center.
  • Enhanced staff and support spaces.
