Dr. David Nace and Dr. Fred Rubin look back at the past year of geriatric medicine to help improve the quality of care that geriatric patients receive moving forward.

Educational Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Justify the need to include patient values and preferences in formulation of treatment plans
  • Outline ways to reduce hospital-acquired functional decline through increased focus on patient exercise
  • Identify ways to improve patient safety in older adults hospitalized for non-cardiac conditions by avoiding unnecessary anti-hypertensive medication adjustments during the acute-care stay
  • Apply clinical practice recommendations to improve the diagnosis and treatment of uncomplicated cystitis in frail older adults
