In this presentation, Keelan Enseki, PT, ATC, Ashley Disantis, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, Rick Joreitz, PT, DTP, SCS, ATC, Nicholas Stephenson PT, DPT, CSCS, and Sarah Ostop, PT, DTP, SVS, ATC, discuss relevant physical therapy evaluation principles for patients with conditions that affect hip stability, sport specific movement requirements for golf, baseball, tennis, and return to sport testing and treatment for patients with groin pain. Dr. Craig S. Mauro, MD, Associate Program Director of the UPMC Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship training program Burke & Bradley Orthopedics – UPMC, participated on the planning committee for the 5th Annual Hip Preservation Program Conference: Management of the Athlete’s Hip.

Educational Objectives 

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe relevant physical therapy evaluation principles for patients with conditions that affect hip stability 
  • Identify sport specific movement requirements for golf, baseball, tennis 
  • Describe kinematic sequencing and force requirements of sport specific movements – golf swing & baseball pitch
  • Implement evidence-based treatment for non-operative management of groin pain
  • Implement return to sport Testing for patients with groin pain
