ACL Consensus Meeting

June 5-7, 2019

Symposium Overview

This three-day meeting signifies the collaboration among global leaders in anatomic ACL reconstruction surgery to develop consensus on key focus areas within the field. Orthopaedic surgeons, physical therapists, radiologists, and basic scientists will discuss evidence-based recommendations, recent advances, and the future of anatomic ACL reconstruction.

Topics will include:

  • Biomechanics and Kinematics
  • Anatomy of the ACL
  • Biological Applications for ACL
  • Clinical Evidence for Anatomic ACL Reconstruction
  • Treatment of Anterolateral Instability
  • Quadriceps ACL
  • Revision ACL Reconstruction
  • Outcome Assessment
  • Concepts for ACL Rehabilitation
  • Return to Sport

 Learning Objectives

  • Describe the morphology and function of the ACL.
  • Describe the effects of the injury and reconstruction of the ACL on the biomechanics and kinematics of the knee.
  • Identify new and emerging technologies to critically evaluate the outcome of anatomic ACL reconstruction.
  • Apply the concepts of evidence-based practice to improve the outcomes of ACL surgery.
  • Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of graft options for anatomic ACL reconstruction.
  • Discuss the current global perspective of the advantages and methods to anatomically reconstruct the ACL.
  • Describe the principles of post-operative rehabilitation and determine readiness to return to activity after anatomic ACL reconstruction.
  • Describe the current state of biological therapies, including the use of platelet rich plasma (PRP), to facilitate healing and repair after ACL injury and reconstruction.
  • Describe the principles for prevention and non-operative management of ACL injuries.
  • Discuss the incidence of and risk factors for failure after ACL reconstruction.
  • Apply the concept of anatomic ACL reconstruction to revision ACL surgery.
  • Describe the indications and techniques to anatomically reconstruct the ACL in children.
