16th Annual Master Class in Cardiac Morphology: Aortic Valve Disease

November 22, 2025

Virtual via Zoom

Venue: UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Rango’s Auditorium

Overview

This comprehensive course will explore the anatomy, pathology, and evolving management strategies for aortic valve disease, with a particular focus on the Ross procedure. Long considered primarily for pediatric and young adult patients, the Ross procedure is now being reconsidered for a broader population, including select older individuals. Through advanced imaging and a deeper understanding of aortic valve morphology, participants will gain the knowledge needed to optimize surgical timing and techniques, ultimately improving outcomes across diverse patient groups.

This course will explore:

  • Aortic valve morphologic features that influence surgical planning and outcomes.
  • Comparative insights into traditional aortic valve replacement strategies versus the Ross procedure, including patient selection and long-term outcomes.
  • Optimal timing for surgical interventions in aortic valve disease and how it relates to ventricular function and long-term survival.
