September 27-28, 2018
This conference will feature topics such as:
• Increased-risk donors
• Recipient candidacy
• Navigating the lung allocation scoring system
• Challenges facing high-volume transplant centers
• Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO)
• Ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP)
• Special populations
After taking part in this continuing medical education activity, surgeons, physicians, and other health care providers involved in lung transplant patient care will gain expanded knowledge of current practices in organ allocation and management.
Participants will learn the programmatic considerations facing high-volume lung transplant programs. Lung transplant team members will greatly increase their knowledge base in preoperative and perioperative aspects of lung transplant. Postoperative challenges of lung transplantation and special populations will be explored in depth.
Finally, participants will actively acquire improved skills in donor organ procurement and managing patients on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and will receive an introduction to emerging technologies such as ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP).
This program is intended for personnel and trainees involved in the care of lung transplant patients.
