Comprehensive Surgical Care for Gastrointestinal Cancers

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center’s expert team has pioneered innovative surgical treatments and continues to develop new therapies to improve outcomes for patients with gastrointestinal cancers. Our team works collaboratively to create an effective, individualized treatment plan for each patient that may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, placement on clinical trials, or a combination of treatments to best meet their needs.

Our programs are among the busiest in the nation, meaning patients have access to some of the most experienced surgeons in their fields. Our surgeons have performed nearly 800 robotic Whipple surgeries—more than anyone else in the nation—along with more than 1,000 laparoscopic liver resections and 1,900 cytoreductive surgery/HIPEC procedures.
