Jennifer Kloesz, MD, FAAP, Appointed New Director of UPMC Newborn Medicine Program

UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is pleased to announce Jennifer Kloesz, MD, FAAP, has been appointed the new Director of the UPMC Newborn Medicine Program and Director of the Division of Newborn Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Kloesz earned her medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed her residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. She has been a faculty member in the Division of Newborn Medicine since 2004.

Dr. Kloesz has been actively involved in medical education and hospital administration throughout her career. She served as associate program director and program director of the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Program for 17 years and participated in several committees for the Pediatric Residency Program.

Dr. Kloesz also supervised the clinical care provided in the UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) as the medical director from 2009 to 2021 and represents the Department of Pediatrics on multiple hospital committees.

Dr. Kloesz served as interim Newborn Medicine Division Director since January 1, 2022. She begins her new responsibilities as permanent division director on April 1, 2023.
