Kevin Contrera, MD, MPH, Awarded Franklin H. Martin Faculty Research Fellowship

Kevin Contrera, MD, MPH, has been awarded the prestigious American College of Surgeons Franklin H. Martin Faculty Research Fellowship for 2025-2027.

His innovative research proposal, “Precision Treatment of HPV+ Oropharyngeal Cancer Through Early Perioperative Circulating Tumor DNA,” comes after the ACS Scholarships Committee's extensive review and recommendation."

Dr. Contrera specializes in removing and reconstructing tumors of the mouth, throat, thyroid, voice box, skin, and nasal cavity. As a microvascular surgeon, he performs “free flap/tissue” reconstruction while always emphasizing functional optimization of his patients. He is board-certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is credentialed by the American Head and Neck Society to perform transoral robotic surgery. He has held national leadership positions in the American Head and Neck Society, American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and the American Medical Association.
