Michael Mathier, MD Named Executive Clinical Director of UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute

Michael Mathier ImageThe Heart and Vascular Institute at UPMC is proud to announce that Michael Mathier, MD, has been named Executive Clinical Director of the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute.

Dr. Mathier joined UPMC in 2000 and previously served as the clinical director of the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, the director of Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension, the director of the Cardiovascular Fellowship Program, and the medical director for the COACH Program.

Mathier is a professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Dr. Mathier received his medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. Following medical school, Dr. Mathier completed his residency and fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Dr. Mathier specializes in the care of patients with advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, and pulmonary hypertension and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiology, advanced heart failure, and transplantation.

Dr. Mathier has more than 100 peer reviewed publications and presents regularly at national meetings. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Heart Failure Society of America and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
