Image of Dr. Berlacher.The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute is proud to announce that Katie Berlacher, MD, MS, has been named the Clinical and Strategic Director of the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute - Cardiology.

Dr. Berlacher is the immediate past program director of the Cardiovascular Fellowship and will remain the director of the Magee Women’s Heart Program, the associate chief of education for the Heart and Vascular Institute, and the chief of medicine at Magee-Womens Hospital. Dr. Berlacher is an associate professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Dr. Berlacher joined the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in 2012. Her clinical interests include women’s heart disease, including high-risk pregnancy related to risk of or known heart disease, as well as medical education. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.

Dr. Berlacher received her medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine. She completed an internal medicine residency and a cardiovascular fellowship at UPMC, as well as a master’s degree in medical education at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Berlacher specializes in women’s cardiology, cardio-obstetrics, and general cardiology and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease.
