UPMC Geriatric Medicine Expertise Influencing National Policy

David Nace, MD, MPHDavid Nace, MD, MPH, chief medical officer of UPMC Senior Communities and associate professor of medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine, served on the White House’s federal Coronavirus Commission for Safety and Quality in Nursing Homes

The Commission is comprised of 25 of the United States’ leading experts on long-term care. They were charged with working collaboratively to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the COVID-19 pandemic response in nursing homes across the country. The Commission was also charged with making recommendations to safeguard the health and quality of life of those in nursing homes as the nation continues to battle COVID-19 and prepare for future threats to public health and safety. 

Dr. Nace’s expertise allowed him to guide continued safety and excellent care across UPMC Senior Communities and directly influence state safety guidelines to protect long-term care residents and employees as president of the Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine of Pennsylvania.
