UPMC Newborn Medicine Program Hooven Laboratory Publishes New Findings on Group B Streptococcus; Receives New NIH Grant

The Hooven Laboratory in the UPMC Newborn Medicine Program, led by Thomas A. Hooven, MD, published new findings in Nature Communications Biology in a study titled “Group B Streptococcus Cas9 Variants Provide Insight Into Programmable Gene Repression and CRISPR-Cas Transcriptional Effects.”

Dr. Hooven’s laboratory also was recently awarded a 2023 National Institutes of Health R21 grant to continue his studies on group B Streptoccus using CRISPR-cas technology.
