The Chest Pain – MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Awards recognize hospitals that demonstrate commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients. The award signifies that the hospitals have reached an aggressive goal of treating patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.

To receive this award, hospitals must demonstrate sustained achievement in the Chest Pain – MI Registry for two consecutive years (2023 and 2024) and perform at the highest level for specific performance measures. Full participation in the registry engages hospitals in a robust quality improvement process using data to drive improvements in adherence to guideline recommendations and overall quality of care provided to heart attack patients.

“It’s truly an honor to have the ACC recognize several hospitals throughout our system with these awards,” says Michael Mathier, MD, clinical director of the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute. “Providing patients with the best possible care is a top priority for our expert team of cardiac surgeons, vascular surgeons, cardiologists, nurses, and other talented providers. When someone has a heart attack or other cardiovascular-related emergency, we’re ready to help.”
