Division of Pediatric Endocrinology Welcomes New Clinical Director Wassim Chemaitilly, MD

The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is pleased to announce that Wassim Chemaitilly, MD, has been appointed as the new clinical director for the Division. Dr. Chemaitilly comes to UPMC Children’s from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, where he served as the director of the Division of Endocrinology. He will begin his tenure at UPMC Children’s in September 1.

Dr. Chemaitilly’s research is focused on the endocrine complications observed in survivors of childhood cancers and brain tumors. He also has clinical and research interests in pituitary dysfunction disorders of puberty. 

Dr. Chemaitilly earned his medical degree from the Université Paris 5 René Descartes in France, followed by a pediatric residency at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, and a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
