Jaideep Behari, MD, PhD, has been appointed chief of the University of Pittsburgh Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.
Dr. Behari serves as the director of translational research for hepatology in the Division and is a professor of medicine. He also serves as the associate director of the Pittsburgh Liver Research Center.
Dr. Behari's research focuses on improving the detection, assessment and treatment of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and developing new care pathways for the management of concurrent MASLD and obesity. He is also part of a team building precision pharmacotherapy approaches for MASH. He directs the UPMC Liver Steatosis and Metabolic Wellness Program, which offers patients advanced diagnostic tools, one-on-one dietitian support, and medical therapies, including state-of-the-art clinical trials, for MASLD and MASH.
