Image of David J. Freeman, MD.The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in Central Pa. is excited to welcome David J. Freeman, MD, to our team of pediatric cardiologists. Dr. Freeman joins a multidisciplinary team of experts dedicated to delivering advanced heart care to patients and families throughout the region.

Dr. Freeman is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. He earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Sint Maarten, followed by a residency in pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at The Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital, followed by another fellowship in sports cardiology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Before deciding to attend medical school, Dr. Freeman worked as an emergency medical technician for the city of Baltimore. He joined UPMC in Central Pa. with a commitment to expanding access to pediatric cardiology services across the region.

Dr. Freeman specializes in cardiology and pediatric cardiology with a special interest in sports cardiology. He is committed to providing patient-centered, high-quality cardiovascular care to patients and families closer to home. Dr. Freeman is available to see patients at UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute locations in Mechanicsburg and Newport.
