Srinivasan Suresh, MD, MBA, professor of Pediatrics, Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, was corresponding author of a recent publication in Pediatrics titled “Large Language Models in Pediatric Education: Current Uses and Future Potential.”
Dr. Suresh’s review suggests that the new generation of large language models (LLMs) can support all levels of pediatric education and training. Specifically, areas such as curriculum design, individualized study plans, enhancing information searches, and more can be enhanced with LLMs.
He also served as co-author on a second paper titled “Artificial Intelligence and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations: Using ChatGPT to Revolutionize Clinical Skills Assessment in Medical Education,” in the Journal of Medical Education and Curricular Development that focused on the specific potential of LLMs in medical education.
Dr. Suresh will continue the discussion surrounding AI at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) national conference. View UPMC Children’s participation and other conference details here
