Experts from UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Participate in IPTA 2025

Experts from the Hillman Center for Pediatric Transplantation at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh participated in the 13th Congress of the International Pediatric Transplant Association IPTA 2025, September 18 to 21 in Berlin, Germany.

UPMC physicians joined colleagues from around the world to discuss advances in pediatric transplantation worldwide to improve the health of children who require such treatment.

On Friday, Sept. 19Michael Green, MD, MPH, presented the abstract, Impact of Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) status of lesions, 2016 WHO histologic grade and time of onset on outcome of Post-Transplant Lymphoproliferative Disorder (PTLD) in pediatric solid organ transplant (SOT) and hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HCT) recipients: Results of a prospective/retrospective multicenter study.

In addition, Marian Michaels, MD, moderated two workshops:

  • Friday, Sept. 19 – IPTA-AST: Dealing with Dilemmas: Challenging Cases in Pediatric Transplantation.
  • Sunday, Sept. 21 – Progress in Infectious Disease Diagnosis, Management, and Mitigation in the Immunocompromised Host.

Dr. Michaels also presented a poster about “Infectious Disease / PTLD and Malignancy” on Saturday, Sept. 20.
