Mohammad Haroon Asif Choudry, MD, surgical oncologist, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, was recently awarded the Appendix Cancer and Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (ACPMP) Changemaker Research Grant for his project, "MUC2-Targeted Mucolysis and Heat-Triggered Nanotherapeutic Drug Delivery to Overcome the Mucus Barrier in Appendiceal Pseudomyxoma Peritonei." The ACPMP represents one of the largest communities of individuals affected by appendix cancer and pseudomyxoma peritonei.
The ACPMP Research Foundation is dedicated to supporting and funding promising research and educational initiatives aimed at advancing the understanding and treatment of appendix cancer and PMP, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.
The Changemaker Grant Program specifically supports research with the greatest potential to directly impact patients and expand knowledge that can lead to advances in the treatment of appendiceal cancer.
This year's grant was awarded in memory of Katie Centorbi.
