2023 UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute and the Heart Institute at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh’s International Fontan-Kreutzer Symposium – Session I

September 11, 2023

The 2023 UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute International Fontan-Kreutzer Symposium brought together world-renowned pediatric and adult cardiologists, congenital cardiac surgeons, and adult cardiac and transplant surgeons to explore the evolution of management strategies in this complex patient population, including medical therapy, transcatheter interventions, rhythm-management device implantation, surgical intervention, and heart or combined organ transplantation. Importantly, this course discussed emerging technologies and techniques for cardiac imaging in these patients. Lifestyle considerations for patients living with Fontan-Kreutzer such as exercise, pregnancy, and mental health were also discussed.
