Susannah Ellsworth, MD, Receives Basic/Translational Science Award at ASTRO 2023 Annual Meeting

Each year, ASTRO awards up to 45 investigators who submitted an abstract to the Annual Meeting with an achievement award. Winners are chosen by the Annual Meeting Steering Committee based on the abstracts' peer-reviewed scores.

This year, Susannah Ellsworth, MD, won the ASTRO Basic/Translational Science Award for her research titled "Influence of Radiation Fractionation on Immune Repertoire Diversity in Solid Tumor Patients." The prospective study analyzed radiation-induced changes in immune repertoire diversity in patients treated with conventionally versus hypofractionated radiation.

Dr. Ellsworth is a radiation oncologist who specializes in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers with an interest in pancreatic and colorectal malignancies. After receiving her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Dr. Ellsworth completed an internship and radiation oncology residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. She then completed fellowships in neuro-oncology research training and pain and palliative medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore.
