The Heart Institute at UPMC Children’s is proud to announce the addition of adult congenital and pediatric cardiologist Josue Diaz-Frias, MD.

Clinical Expertise

After receiving his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez School of Medicine, Dr. Diaz-Frias completed a pediatric residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and The University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Following his residency, Dr. Diaz-Frias completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Spectrum Health, Michigan State University, and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Most recently, he completed a fellowship in adult congenital heart disease at University of Michigan Health Systems Dr. Diaz-Frias is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology.

The Adult Congenital Heart Disease Center – a joint program of the Heart Institute at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute – is the only one if its kind in the region, treating children and adults diagnosed with congenital heart disease. Our center provides the full scope of management for patients with congenital heart disease. Lifelong surveillance by a congenital heart disease specialist is essential to identify and treat complications early, which ultimately improves patient outcomes.

Dr. Diaz-Frias brings his expertise to the robust team of specialists at the UPMC Adult Congenital Heart Disease Center and will support the team’s mission of enhancing patient care and advancing treatment for congenital heart disease.
