The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is pleased to announce that Marci Nilsen, PhD, RN, has officially joined the department as a professor in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and assumes the role of Director of the UPMC Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship Clinic.
The UPMC Head and Neck Cancer Survivorship program is a patient-centered, multidisciplinary initiative created to meet the diverse needs of survivors. The teams consist of head and neck surgeons, advanced practice providers, nurses, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, dietitians, and dentists that help develop a personalized survivorship care plan for patients.
Dr. Nilsen built the survivorship program in collaboration with Jonas T. Johnson, MD, FACS, which serves as a highly regarded standard of management of symptoms and treatment-related effects in head and neck cancer survivors.
