Claire Durkin, MD, MSCE, and Fei-Pi (Phoebe) Lin, MD, Join UPMC Center for Liver Care

The UPMC Center for Liver Care team is pleased to announce the addition of transplant hepatologists Claire Durkin, MD, MSCE, and Fei-Pi (Phoebe) Lin, MD.

Claire Durkin, MD, MSCE

Dr. Durkin sees patients at the UPMC Liver Health and Recovery Clinic. She is assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.

Clinical, Research, and Academic Experience

Dr. Durkin earned her medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. She then completed a residency in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Following her residency, Dr. Durkin completed fellowships in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She served as chief fellow during her gastroenterology fellowship. Dr. Durkin completed a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Durkin is a member of several professional societies, including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Society of Transplantation, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Medical Association, and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

Dr. Durkin’s research interests include the assessment and treatment of severe alcohol-associated hepatitis, hepatitis C virus treatment and U.S. health care policy, and the use of posttransplant immunosuppression in transplant oncology.

Fei-Pi (Phoebe) Lin, MD

Dr. Lin is the co-director of UPMC’s Wilson Disease Center of Excellence. Wilson Disease Center of Excellence is a designation from the Wilson Disease Association, a nonprofit patient-led organization that strives to expand international access to Wilson Disease treatment. UPMC is currently one of ten Wilson Disease Centers of Excellence in the U.S.

Dr. Lin is clinical assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.

Clinical, Research, and Academic Experience

Dr. Lin earned her medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia. She completed an internal medicine residency, followed by gastroenterology and transplant hepatology fellowships at UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Lin is a member of several professional societies, including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Society of Transplantation, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Lin’s research interests include the assessment and prevention of frailty in patients with cirrhosis and cardiopulmonary health protective factors in liver transplant recipients.
