Nationally Recognized Expert Joins UPMC Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism

Steven P. Hodak, MDIn June, Steven P. Hodak, MD, joined the UPMC Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism as a clinical professor of medicine.

Dr. Hodak is a board-certified endocrinologist and nationally recognized expert in the fields of thyroid molecular diagnosis and thyroid cancer, as well as minimally invasive non-surgical methods for treatment of structural thyroid disease.

He received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed residency training, served as chief medical Resident, and completed fellowship training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Georgetown Hospital. Prior to UPMC, Dr. Hodak served as director of the Endocrine Section of Tisch Hospital and associate division director at NYU Langone Health.

He was among the first clinical providers in the United States to offer thyroid radiofrequency ablation after its 2018 FDA approval and is a founding director and past president of the North American Society for Interventional Thyroidology (NASIT). Dr. Hodak has been recognized repeatedly as one of America’s Best Doctors for more than a decade and is now available to see patients by telemedicine only at UPMC.
