In September 2025, UPMC Magee-Womens hosted the 23rd Annual Perinatal and Neonatal Health Care Conference for Nurses and Allied Health Staff. UPMC Magee-Womens proudly supports a remarkable team of perinatal and neonatal nurses, nurse leaders, and allied health professionals who provide essential care throughout the childbearing and birth journey.

Each year, this conference brings together perinatal and neonatal nursing staff from across the UPMC Women’s Health Service Line, which includes 15 obstetric hospitals in Pennsylvania, Western Maryland, and New York, as well as nursing staff from outside of UPMC.

The conference held sessions on a range of topics, aiming to equip perinatal and neonatal nurses with the tools to care for the most vulnerable patients while also taking care of themselves.

Topics included:

  • Leading with the Heart Through Change and Challenge
  • Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs)
  • Burnout Prevention and Coping Skills for Perinatal and Neonatal Nurses
  • Palliative and Supportive Care
  • Techniques to Prevent Conflict and Better Care for Yourself, Your Patients, and Your Peers

The conference also held a parent panel featuring stories from families who have experienced pregnancy loss.
