New research from UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh has been published in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association (JAPhA): “Understanding Clinician Preferences to Support Pharmacogenomic Results in Electronic Health Records: A Qualitative Study in an Academic Health System.”
This study, authored by Philip Empey, PharmD, PhD; Mylynda Massart, MD, PhD; and Lucas Berenbrok, PharmD, MS, BCACP, FAPhA, Erika Dreikorn, PhD; Seth Sacchi, PharmD, RPh; and Katherine Riden, PharmD, explores how clinician-preferred strategies such as intuitive clinical decision support tools, modular education resources, and streamlined communication pathways are essential for successful pharmacogenomics (PGx) implementation.
The findings offer a practical roadmap for integrating PGx into everyday clinical workflows and inform scalable models for precision medicine across health systems. Future work will build on these insights to further advance PGx adoption.
