Biomarker for Myofascial Pain

In this UPMC Physician Journal feature, follow a multidisciplinary team as they develop and test a biomarker for lumbar myofascial pain. In pursuit of this goal, cutting-edge ultrasound technology and Advanced Machine Learning are employed by Ajay D. Wasan, MD, MSc, Vice Chair for Pain Medicine in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at UPMC and a Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine and Psychiatry in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine; Kang Kim, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine and of Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh and the Heart and Vascular Institute, UPMC; and Jiantao Pu, PhD, Associate Professor of Radiology and Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh.
