 Dr. Popescu’s research interests are focused on epilepsy and electroencephalography.  Additionally, she is involved in the care of comatose patients resuscitated from cardiac arrest with seizures, myoclonic or non-convulsive status epilepticus.

Biography

Dr. Popescu joined the Epilepsy Division in 2009 after completing subspecialty training in clinical neurophysiology.  She has a special interest in caring for patients with seizures and epilepsy and in evaluating patients for possible epilepsy surgery.  In addition to her outpatient epilepsy clinic, Dr. Popescu has attending responsibilities in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), Continuous EEG monitoring, electroencephalography (EEG) and Neurology Consult service.

Dr. Popescu completed a clinical neurophysiology fellowship focused on EEG and epilepsy at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.  At the conclusion of her fellowship, she was honored with the “Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Award” for exceptional skills in clinical neurophysiology.

Dr. Popescu graduated from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania in 2001.  She started her career as a neurosurgery resident in Bucharest before moving to the United Stated where she completed an internship at Norwalk Hospital/Yale University followed by a neurology residency at UPMC (2005-2008).
