Carmen Andreescu, MD, is an associate professor of psychiatry and co-director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Neuroimaging Laboratory. Dr. Andreescu earned her medical degree from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy. She then completed both her residency and fellowship at UPMC Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. Dr. Andreescu’s research interests involve the neural basis of emotion regulation in anxiety, biomarkers of treatment response in anxiety, and device-based interventions in mood disorders. Her clinical focus emphasizes the treatment of late-life mood and anxiety disorders and interventional psychiatry. Past awards and honors obtained by Dr. Andreescu include the Hartford-Jeste Award for Future Leaders in Geriatric Psychiatry from the American Psychiatric Association, and the Young Investigator Award from the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation.
