Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Harner specializes in sports medicine with an emphasis on surgery of the shoulder and knee.

Dr. Harner earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. He then completed his medical degree at the University of Michigan School of Medicine in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Harner went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh and a sports medicine/knee and shoulder fellowship at Salt Lake City Knee and Sports Medicine in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dr. Harner is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He also serves on numerous editorial review boards for publications like Advances in Orthopaedic Surgery, The American Journal of Knee Surgery, and Operative Techniques in Sports Medicine. In line with his academic and research interest, Dr. Harner is a reviewer for scientific journals including The American Journal of Sports Medicine and the Journal of Orthopedic Research.
