Edward A. Monaco III, MD, PhD, joined the Department of Neurological Surgery faculty as an assistant professor in June of 2013 after completing the University of Pittsburgh’s seven-year neurosurgery residency program.

Prior to coming to the university, Dr. Monaco earned a PhD in neuroscience and physiology at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse and his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, N.Y. He completed undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry at LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y.

Dr. Monaco was born in Charleston, S.C.
