Profile:

Gary Galang, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and attending physiatrist with an advanced training in spinal cord medicine and traumatic brain injury medicine.

Dr. Galang received a bachelor of science and a doctorate of medicine at the University of the Philippines, Manila, Philippines in 1989 and 1994, respectively. He completed the UPMC residency in PMR in 2004, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Galang attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey completing the Spinal Cord Injury Fellowship in 2005 and the Traumatic Brain Injury Research Fellowship in 2006.

Dr. Galang was actively involved in the resident training program while an attending physiatrist at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, West Orange, NJ between May 2006 and June 2009. His lectures covered such topics as neurotoxin treatment for spasticity, complications of dual diagnosis of sci and tbi, and introductory lectures on tbi.
