Profile:

James Castellano, MD, PhD, is a neurologist and is certified in neurology and epilepsy by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Castellano joined the UPMC Epilepsy Division in 2018. He is an assistant professor of Neurology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York and completed his residency and fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center.

Dr. Castellano’s clinical interests include epigenetics, epileptogenesis, and pharmacoresistant epilepsy, and his research interests include critical care EEG, neurophysiologic intraoperative monitoring, and epilepsy surgery. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society, the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, and the American Medical Association.
