Profile:

Dr. Karp studied medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his residency at Columbia University Medical Center/New York State Psychiatric Institute. He pursued a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital and went on to receive a doctoral degree from the University of Pittsburgh in late-life mood disorders.

Dr. Karp is currently associate professor of psychiatry, anesthesiology, and clinical and translational science in the University of Pittsburgh Department of Psychiatry. His research interests include late-life treatment resistant depression, chronic pain, and deep brain stimulation. Dr. Karp’s clinical interests include treatment resistant depression, psychiatric and medical comorbidity, and medical student wellness and mental health.
