Profile:

Susan L. Greenspan, MD, is a professor of medicine in both the Departments of Endocrinology and Geriatrics in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Greenspan studied medicine at Harvard Medical School, and went on to complete residency at Beth Israel Hospital. 

Dr. Greenspan's research include therapies for osteoporosis; new ways to diagnose, assess, and monitor bone loss; bone loss in men with prostate cancer or androgen deprivation therapy; and the importance of falls in the etiology of hip fractures.

She serves on the Scientific Advisory Board for the National Osteoporosis Foundation, the International Society for Clinical Densitometry, and the American Federation for Aging Research.

Her honors include a Physician Scientist Award through the National Institute on Aging, New Investigator Award through the Gerontological Society of America, Best Doctors in America (5 years) and other numerous honors related to her expertise in osteoporosis.
