In Session 6 of the Pediatric Cardiac Morphology Master Class, Robert Anderson, MD, FRCPath, Lizabeth Lanford, MD, and Diane Spicer, BS, PA (ASCP) describe vascular rings.

  • Dr. Anderson opens the session reviewing the development of vascular rings
  • Ms. Spicer explains vascular rings such as Edward’s Hypothetical Double Aortic Arch and also describes Pulmonary Arterial Slings
  • Dr. Lanford presents the echocardiography of vascular rings

Educational Objectives 

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the Edwards Hypothetical Double Arch approach to the embryologic origin of the aortic arch (both normal and congenital aortic arch abnormalities
  • Distinguish various aortic arch anomalous that will form vascular rings
