Dr. Esa M. Davis explains the risk factors associated with smoking and stresses how smoking cessation is crucial to cardiovascular health. Dr. Davis also discusses how electronic cigarettes may be a reasonable “harm reduction” strategy. 

Educational Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Implement treatment of tobacco use in patient with cardiac diseases 
  • Recall the current guidelines regarding alternative tobacco products such as e cigarettes and vaping
  • Recognize and treat tobacco withdrawal in hospitalized patients
