In this presentation, Frank C. Sciurba, MD, discusses how COPD impacts patients and offers different treatment approaches. He also discusses the current guidelines for the use of maintenance bronchodilator therapy in patients with COPD in reducing exacerbations and improving quality of life.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify and understand the multiple domains in which COPD impacts patients and to which treatment can be directed 
  • Explain current guidelines for the use of maintenance bronchodilator therapy in patients with COPD in reducing exacerbations and improving quality of life
  • Implement the use of inhaled corticosteroids, guided by peripheral blood eosinophils to maximize benefits and minimize risks in the treatment of COPD
  • Identify the evolving role of precision treatment using bronchoscopic device and biologic therapy in COPD
