Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Explain the risks of accepting hepatitis C positive organs in the era of new direct-acting antiviral (DAA) therapy to improve organ allocation
- Recognize the effect of the opioid epidemic on the epidemiology of hepatitis C to decrease stigma and improve acceptance of hepatitis C positive organs by our patients
- Discuss the future of hepatitis B core Ab positive and hepatitis B surface antigen positive organs in order to improve organ allocation and decrease organ discard rates
