Udai Pandey, PhD, Receives New Multi-PI NIH R01 Grant For ALS Research

UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Division of Child Neurology congratulates Udai Pandey, PhD, for receiving a new multi-PI R01 grant with Dr. Evangelos Kiskinis (Northwestern University) from the National Institutes of Health for a project titled “Investigating the Contribution of ALS/FTD-Associated Mutations in the NEK1 Kinase to Disease Pathophysiology.”

More About Dr. Pandey

Udai Pandey, PhD, is a professor of pediatrics and director of the Children’s Neuroscience Institute in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

The main thrust of Dr. Pandey’s research has involved uncovering the mechanisms that drive traumatic brain injury and degenerative neurologic conditions, in particular amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Over the last several years, his lab has been responsible for discovering new genetically-driven rare neurologic conditions as a result of pathogenic mutations in the GEMIN5 and GEMIN 4 genes.
