Patients in Pittsburgh’s northern communities have convenient access to nationally recognized cardiovascular care through the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute. Specialized services, including a program dedicated to vascular medicine, are available at both UPMC Passavant–Cranberry and UPMC Passavant–McCandless, ensuring expert care close to home.

Led by a multidisciplinary team of vascular medicine specialists, cardiologists, and advanced practice providers, the program emphasizes early detection and long-term, nonsurgical management of a wide range of vascular diseases and conditions, including:

  • Abdominal aortic aneurysms.
  • Atherosclerosis.
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
  • Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD).
  • Peripheral artery disease (PAD).
  • Varicose veins.
  • Venous insufficiency.

UPMC’s commitment to a patient-centered approach ensures that each patient receives the most advanced treatment options and support needed to navigate their health care journey. Whether a patient has been living with a chronic vascular disease or needs an evaluation for a newly diagnosed condition, the team at UPMC Passavant is equipped to provide diagnostic tools and comprehensive care in a community-based setting.

“Patients don’t have to travel long distances to be treated by a vascular expert,” says John Hornick, MD, cardiologist and vascular medicine specialist at UPMC Passavant. “When referring a patient, you can feel confident that we’ll work collaboratively to build a customized plan, with the ultimate goal of achieving the most optimal outcome.”

Dr. Hornick and other experts at the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute welcome the opportunity to speak with physicians to consult on a case or arrange a meeting. To learn about the vascular medicine program at UPMC Passavant or to refer a patient, please call 412-748-6484.
