About Our Psychiatry Program

Psychiatric care at UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside has been the province of UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital, formerly known as Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, since it first opened its doors in 1942. In the more than 70 years since its founding, UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital has become a leading center for the care and research of the entire spectrum of behavioral health disorders as a part of UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside.
