January 27, 2025

The International Cytokine & Interferon Society (ICIS) celebrated recipients of the 2024 ICIS-Regeneron New Investigator Awards for Excellence in Cytokine & Interferon Research at the 2024 ICIS Annual Meeting in October.

Dr. SchwartzThis award honors early-career scientists who have made significant contributions to the field. Among the distinguished awardees was Daniella Schwartz, MD, assistant professor of Medicine in the UPMC Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology.

Dr. Schwartz's innovative research focuses on the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of immune dysregulation, with a focus on interleukin 9 and inborn errors of immunity.

Her work has provided new insights and notable contributions into the mechanisms underlying immune responses.

Dr. Schwartz was honored at the 2024 ICIS Annual Meeting, where recipients shared their latest research findings. Dr. Schwartz presented an oral abstract titled “A Th9-endothelial activation loop promotes inflammatory cardiovascular disease.”

The ICIS-Regeneron New Investigator Awards ultimately highlight the importance of supporting emerging leaders in immunology. By recognizing and promoting the work of these talented researchers, the ICIS aims to foster continued innovation and discovery in the field.

Congratulations to Dr. Schwartz on this outstanding achievement!
