UPMC Children’s Endocrinology Researcher Awarded AHA Career Development Award

University of Pittsburgh Department of Pediatrics researcher Thiago Bruder do Nascimento, PhD, was awarded a 2021 Career Development Award from the American Heart Association. The grant will provide Dr. Bruder three years of funding for his research project “Progranulin on Kawasaki’s diseases-induced vascular damage.”

Dr. Bruder is a member of the Center for Pediatric Research in Obesity and Metabolism (CPROM) within the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology, which is directed by Silva Arslanian, MD.

Dr. Bruder joined the Department of Pediatrics and CPROM in 2019. His research interests are focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms whereby metabolic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and lipodystrophy lead to cardiovascular disease. 

More About Dr. Bruder

Thiago Bruder do Nascimento, PhD, is an assistant professor of pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In addition to his work in the CPROM group, Dr. Bruder also is a member of Vascular Medicine Institute at the University of Pittsburgh and the Richard King Mellon Foundation Institute for Pediatric Research at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
